The 28 year old cousin of Amir Khan commenced his career in the Bolton Leagues and played well enough to be signed by Lancashire in 2002. He made his debut for the county in the same year whilst on a scholarship. Despite having only taken 6 first class wickets he was selected for the England A team tour to Malaysia in 2003/4. He made his One Day International debut for England against New Zealand in 2004 and his Test Match debut followed against Sri Lanka two years later where he took 3 wickets in his first 4 overs. He was part of England’s Ashes team that toured Australia in 2006/7 and England’s 2007 World Cup team.
