Biography Jim started rallying in 1955 and enjoyed competing for 18 years with a variety of cars from Vauxhall Crestas, Sunbeam Rapiers, MK1 Lotus Cortinas and a very famous MK1 Escort Twin Cam. Jim competed in numerous Monte Carlo rallies between 1950 and 1970 and he won many championships, including the coveted Motoring News Championship twice. In 1967, he scored a triple with the RAC Rally Championship, Motoring News Championship and the BTRDA Silver Star Championship. In 1970 he won the BTRDA Gold Star Championship and Motoring News Championship. In 1968, he finished third overall on the RAC Rally and also competed on the World Cup Rally in 1970.
He retired from motorsport in 1973. A very talented driver who won more rallies than most folk would ever dream about, always kind hearted and generous both in winning and losing, he was a true gentleman to the core. Jim died in 2005 after battling cancer.
