Biography

Alan has been secretary of Longsight Methodist Tennis Club since 1966. He taught at Bolton School where he was in charge of tennis for over 30 years. He organises two large tournaments open to any secondary school in the North of England every year. He is the referee for the Bolton Sports Federation’s annual tournament. In the 1990’s for several years he was the team manager for the Bolton tennis team for the Greater Manchester Youth Games. He has been on the Bolton Sports Federation tennis committee for many years and served as Vice-Chairman. He has played tennis in the Bolton League since the 1960s and has represented Bolton in many inter-league matches.
