Biography

Eric's noteworthy effort and personal achievement was as long serving sports secretary of the Bolton Deaf Club. His loyalty was unquestioned - everything he did was voluntary. Under his stewardship, the club took part in local leagues in football, snooker, billiards and bowls during the summer. Throughout the years he also organised the club's participation in the North West Deaf Sports Council indoor games leagues, and knock out competitions and outdoor sports against other Deaf Clubs in some of the main towns of Lancashire. He also played in the competitions himself with some considerable measure of success, demonstrating genuine sportsmanship at all times.
