Marlene qulaified as a PE teacher in 1970 and her first venture in to the BSF was in the early 1970s with a group of enthusiatic hockey players from Bury. The numbers quickly grew with players form Tyldesley and Bolton. Hocky continued as her first love until 1994 when she entered the Bolton Ladies Rounders League with a bunch of very talented Year 9 girls. fom Mount St Joseph School. Despite fearing a slaughter every match the team exceled and finished runners up in their first season winning promotion. This early success spurred the team on and a B team was formed in the following 6 years the teams won 10 trophies. The Mount St Joseph Ladies team continues to this day.
