Biography	John was a football referee who refereed a Football League Division One match at the age of 20, refereed the FA Cup Final in 1920, refereed 27 internationals and an Olympic Games match in 1908 before retiring at the age of 50. He was reputed to have refereed from the centre circle, yet on the field his word was law.
