Biography	Jim was awarded the Bolton Civic Medal in 1998 for teaching countless children to swim over a 30 year period at various pools. He had earned his reputation as a swimmer by crossing the English Channel in his younger days but later topped that coaching and taking part in a two way relay of the Channel in 1990 going from England to France then back to England. Jim also coached and played water polo for Lancashire and raised thousands of pounds for charity.
