Biography |
Graham’s contribution to sport is reflected by his distinguished service to the promotion of tennis in Bolton and in Lancashire over a period of some thirty five years. In his youth, Graham played football for Bolton School and cricket at Bolton Cricket Club. As a student at Cambridge University, he was selected to play tennis for Downing College. Graham has been a member of Markland Hill Lawn Tennis Club since 1967. He served on the Tennis Committee 1970-1989; as Tennis Chairman 1973-1977, 1983-1987; General Committee 1971-1992, 2001-2007; Club Chairman 1987-1989; Deputy Chairman 1986, 1990, 1992; President 2001-2007; Lancashire LTA Eastern Area Committee 1977-1990; Chairman Competitions and Tournaments Committee 1987-2005; Executive Committee 1990-2005; President 1997; LTA District Representative for Bolton 1990-2005; Bolton Tennis Development Group 2000-2005. He arranged the first Bolton Tennis Club exchange with Club de l’Epan, Le Mans, France. Graham’s dedication to sport in general, and his ongoing contribution to tennis in particular, in Bolton and Lancashire, is exemplary. |
