Biography |
Albert had an outstanding career in the world of wrestling. He joined Bolton Harriers in 1952, wrestling in the second team in the Lances League, progressing into the first team in the northern counties league. He was British Championships Winner in 1958, 1960, 1961, 1964, 1966, and 1967. Albert represented England winning three Commonwealth Games bronze medals in 1958, 1962 and 1966. He went on to be national coach in a voluntary capacity from 1867 to 1978 and coached a number of youngsters to success, including his own son Brian. Albert gave 50 years voluntary service to Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club as a coach as well as serving on the club’s committee for 30 years, 25 of them as Treasurer. He is a life member of Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club and Life President of Northern Region. He was made an Honorary Member of the British Wrestling Association in June 2000. |
