Biography

Dougie has contributed to the sports scene in Bolton since the 1950s and has been a worthy ambassador for the town at international events. As a teenager he represented his school and was involved in a variety of sports in the Bolton Sports Federation. For many years he was a keen member of the Bolton Squash League, not only as a dedicated player but as a ‘reporter’ keeping squash in the news through his articles in the Bolton Evening News. He has travelled through many countries and continents in pursuit of his dream of completing 100 marathons and in 2006 was only a few marathons from reaching his goal.
