Steven was selected to represent Great Britain at the Paralympics in Athens 2004, aged 17. He has won over 40 Disability Sport England British National Titles in swimming and athletics. In 2001, Steven represented England and Wales at the Cerebral Palsy World Games, where he set 2 new world records in 200m and 1500m freestyle winning a total of 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal. In 2001 he competed at his first DSE Junior National Athletic Championships, becoming British National Champion in the 100m, 200m and 800m, adding a further gold medal in the 4 x 400m relay. In 2002 he competed at DSE Junior National Athletics Championships, winning British National titles in the 200m, 800m and 1500m, setting a new national record in the 800m for his age group. In 2002 he also competed at his first DSE Senior British Athletic Championships. In 2003 Steven competed at DSE Junior National Athletic Championships, winning British national titles in 200m, 800m and 1500m, setting a new national record in the 1500m for his age group. He also competed at DSE Senior British Athletic Championships in the same year becoming British Mens Champion in 800m. He has been invited to join the World Class Potential Programme for Athletes aiming for the Beijing Paralympics 2008.
