Biography

A renowned boxing coach at the Bolton Lads and Girls Club where he started boxing in his teens. He became the North West counties squad coach, then turned down joining the England team as it would interfere with training at Bolton Lads’ Club. For 4 years he then coached Bolton’s Nick Boyd to an unbeaten professional career In 1994. After a break Bill is now back passing on values and skills at New Bury and Farnworth Amateur Boxing Club. Bill was given the rare honour of being granted the freedom of the American Deep South city of Laffayette, home of the great Joe Louis, in recognition of his contribution to the sport.
