Biography

Jim Cochrane has been a man of stature in the world of tennis administration. He was born in Bolton and lived in the town for forty years. His father was a director of Bolton Wanderers FC. He ran the Lancashire Junior Tennis Championships in Bolton from 1949 to 67. He served on the Lancashire LTA committees for more than forty years. He was President in 1969 and 1984. He was Chairman of the Lawn Tennis Association in 1981 and President from 1982 to 84. He has served on many LTA committees including Wimbledon Champs and on the ITF (International Tennis Federation) Medical Committee. He has been an outstanding servant of his sport.
