Biography |
May Barlow has been the Secretary of Little Lever Cricket Club since 1959. She played hockey and rounders in her younger days but her great strength has been in the organisation of sport, for example, she was the main fundraiser and organiser when the Cricket Club needed a new clubhouse in 1965. In 1983, she was appointed a League Vice-President and eight years later, she was awarded the Hubert Pendlebury Memorial Trophy for services to the Bolton League. In 1995, the Bolton League conferred Life Membership in recognition of Lifetime Service to the Club and League. In 1999, she was acclaimed as the Bolton Evening News Sports Personality of the Year. She was further honoured when the Bolton Forum for Sport presented her with their Lifetime Achievement Sports Award. In addition to serving on the Lancashire Benefit Committees, she has worked tirelessly outside the game on various charities. She is a great supporter and organiser of junior cricket at school and league level - this is one of her great loves of the game. |
