Biography	Martin Jones came on to the running scene at a time when Horwich RMI Harriers were emerging as a real force in local athletics, and in harness with Paul Dugdale he projected the club’s image nationally.Martin competed at the highest level in all disciplines, namely road, cross-country, track and fell. Amongst his national representation was the following: ENGLAND World Trophy Mountain Running Team (World Champion 1992/3) 1995 GBR World Cross Country Team 1993/4/5 GBR Track Team, running the10,000m in the Commonwealth Games (4th) 1994 GBR Road Team 1992/3/4/5/6 He won a fabulous individual gold on two occasions in the World Mountain Running Championships (1992 & 1993) and his 4th place in the 1994 Commonwealth 10,000m was another tremendous highlight in a glittering career. His triumph as a double World Champion, and his performance in the Commonwealth 10,000 metres, put the club at the very pinnacle of British athletics.
