Biography

Robert has been involved with disability sports since 1979. Firstly, as an athlete himself, rising through the local ranks at the Jubilee Centre, to national level, winning countless medals and titles along the way. His athletics career peaked in the 1984 Para Olympic games, where he won gold medals in Shot Put, Discus and Javelin, breaking world records to achieve his feat. After retiring from competition, he became involved in coaching bowls and became national coach, taking successful teams to competitions in Australia, South Africa and Korea to name a few. He was appointed Chairman of World Bowls for the Disabled and was involved with the Para Olympics Selection Committee.
